ONE DAY TOUR
– Friday April 2nd 2010 - “Nîmes and Pont du Gard”

Departure from Corum conference center at 9h00

Guided tour of the Roman city of Nîmes to discover its 2,000 years of history, architecture, art and passion. Explore the XVII century and wander aimlessly through the alleys of the Ancient Roman Empire.

After lunch, departure towards Pont du Gard and guided tour of this impressive Roman structure that served to supply water to the city of Nîmes from the spring at Uzes. Then enjoy some free time on this site recently renovated to receive thousands of visitors each year.

April 2nd 2010 - Morning departure for Collioure

© Tourist office CollioureVisit to Desclaux Company, which specializes in curing anchovies and tasting of homemade products. 

Lunch in the port of Collioure.

In the afternoon, a small tourist train takes you on a tour through picturesque vineyards so you can admire beautiful panoramas of Collioure. Then stop at Fort St Elmo which overlooks the bay and the plain of Roussillon.
Back to Collioure by the Corniche, where you can enjoy some of the rocky coastline with its coves. Then take some free time for personal discovery in the streets of Collioure.

Departure in late afternoon towards Carcassonne. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.


April 3rd 2010 : CARCASSONNE – MONTPELLIER

© Tourist office CarcassonneDeparture after breakfast for a guided tour of the Cité de Carcassonne oppidum built on a proto Roman site from the 1st century BC that has an inner wall of the Lower Empire partially rebuilt by the Royal Engineers in the late thirteenth century.
The former Cathedral St Nazaire and St. Celsus, and the castle and the outer wall--which doubles its defense where Carcassonne became Sénéchaussée Royal--now compose a monumental art complex spanning the XI to XIV centuries. Then time off in the late morning for a walk in the streets.

In the afternoon, departure to Corbières where we stop to visit a cellar followed by a tasting of wines from Corbieres. 

Coming back, we will stop in Beziers at the foot of the nine locks Fonserannes to admire this masterpiece realized by Paul Riquet during the reign of Louis XIV, a UNESCO World Heritage site . 

Late afternoon: arrival in Montpellier in  and transfer to hotel.

Palais des Papes in Avignon.

Lunch at restaurant

Departure after lunch to Les Baux de Provence: Guided tour of the City
and free time to discover typical shops.

Arrival late afternoon in Marseille. Installation at the hotel, dinner
on the Vieux Port and overnight 



April, 3rd 2010: MARSEILLE – CASSIS - MARSEILLE

© Calanques 13Breakfast at the hotel and boarding on the small tourist train for a
commented ride to Notre Dame de la Garde, neo-Byzantine church, then
continue by bus through the Corniche to reach CASSIS late morning.

Lunch

In the afternoon, boarding a boat trip to discover the Calanques of
Cassis: let yourself be amazed by the spectacle of these huge white
limestone cliffs plunging into the deep blue Mediterranean. Free time on the little port of Cassis, with its shops and sidewalk cafe.

By late afternoon, return to the hotel and free time for dinner.

Departure after breakfast for Aigues-Mortes: Guided our of the City with
its walls and tower of Constance.

Lunch at restaurant

In the afternoon, boarding the Ticki III for a commented cruise to explore the Camargue. We end the day with a visit the famous Listel winery and a wine tasting.

Arrival in Montpellier in late afternoon: transfer to hotel.
